Hickory Superstore Unveiling!
Hickory’s New 20,000 sq ft Superstore
Unveiling & Sale Event
Friday May 3rd • 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, Saturday May 4th • 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
(Event activities will take place from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm both days)
For those who haven’t heard, the Hickory store has expanded...a lot. What started as a small mail-order
catalog company in the late 80s has now fully opened not only North Carolina’s, but one of the
southeast’s (maybe the country’s) largest fully loaded woodworking supply stores.
The word “superstore” implies a certain connotation, and our newly renovated headquarters will not disappoint.
With over 20,000 square feet of floor space to showcase our vast assortment of products, two classrooms, and a demo area, this superstore showroom puts all the woodworking eye candy on display.

Thanks Michelle! I totally enjoyed watchin your instruction and explanations!
Thank you for the video. Any wood restoration I've sanded profiles by hand and this video blew my mind. Literally a god send.
Thanks for watching!
Hummingbirds don’t like man made nests!
Whew, thank goodness we are making man-made houses.
Kyle you explain so wonderful I was wondering if you have a book so we can have all your smarts at our disposals
He should!
I was there today!
I just got the full system and I'm putting it on the radial for ripping.
Sweet! Let us know how you like it
Thanks A LOT ! Claire, France.
You're welcome!
Looks and specs identical to the Laguna of the same size. Why should I buy Axiom besides the fact that I live within 20 minutes of the Hickory Klingspor? Honest question, is there actually a difference? Are they both made with "global components" from China?
They look similar, but are different. If you are comparing the IQ Pro (the new one), it would compare more to the Elite series. If the previous version of the IQ, then it would be the Axiom Pro series. Axiom would have some advantages and disadvantages depending on what you are looking for. Axiom is manufactured in Taiwan but does go through considerable quality control. I can't say where Laguna is made. The controller on the Axiom is much more robust and their stepper motors are 48 watt (Pro) or actual Servo motors with the Elite. There rpm range is 0-24,000 which is helpful in certain applications. The negative is Axiom currently doesn't have a vac table or ATC, but that is changing very soon from what I understand. The biggest advantage after the sale is the technical assistance from Axiom. They are far superior and are quick to respond with accurate fixes. I'd suggest going to the Hickory store and looking at the Pro on the floor before making up your mind. just my opinion. Check out my channel and you will see I owned a Next Wave HD520, then an Axiom Pro, and finally upgraded to an Elite. Laguna and others were on my radar, but I am so happy that I went Axiom when upgrading from my Shark HD.
For some reason, YT wouldn't allow me to comment as my craft channel, so I'm doing from my personal one. They look similar, but are different. Oh my gravy... THIS STORE IS MASSIVE!

Hummingbird house there is no such thing google it. But it would be a nice Knick- Knack for your house.
Not sure you are using Google Correctly, searching for Hummingbird houses and several results come up. Knick-Knacks, that's got a good ring to it, did you come up with that?
@@KlingsporsWoodworkingShop Sure you can find places that sell them like Amazon but the truth is hummingbirds do not nest in houses. But they do make a very nice decoration. Many people put decorations in there yard all the time. And people do buy them thinking hummingbirds will use them like my wife for one. lol
@@lloydbrannan1002 Ohhh, you said nesting in houses, ornithologists are coming for ya! We appreciate the comment and we know these aren't official sancuaries for hummingbirds, but they are fun turning projects that needed a name. We aren't ornithologists but we are woodworkers and we enjoy turning things.
Can you tell me exactly how you moved the file from your phone to Vectric? Thanks-
Through the Shaper Origin Trace App.
It is REALLLLYYYY COOOOOOLLLLLL, right up until you put all the cool pieces you see in the video in the shopping cart and figure out it's going to cost you over $300
Cheaper than retrofitting a fence. Thanks for watching
Great video to mounting it, poor design when it comes to the power cable for the Ecool and the spindle, since they are both to short to route thru the drag change, so now they want me to jeri rig a way to route the cables. They could resolve this by providing an extension for the two cables and in the future make sure these cords are long enough
This makes sense.
@@KlingsporsWoodworkingShop I just made the cable for the spindle and found an extension for the coolant pump power. what are some of the trim jigs you mentioned also will coolant / antifreeze work, I can't seem to find straight coolant
My burning iron starts at 200 degree to 450 so wha temp should i have mine on
Depends on the tip, wood, burner style and what you are trying to do. No one set temperature is going to work for everything. Set to 350, and try it if it's burning to hot to fast or too dark, then back it down until you find where you are happy with the results.
That microphone "shure" sounds good!
Oh Heil its not a Shure!
whats the rolling cart you are using?
Kreg Universal Bench Setup www.woodworkingshop.com/search/?search_query=Universal%20bench
It's a 46" model, not 42 or 48. They come in 24, 36, 46.
Sweet! Thank you for the clarification.
"Hummingbirds are not cavity-nesters, and they will not use birdhouses, no matter what the dimensions, shape, or color of the house. Instead, hummingbird nests are built out of a variety of materials including moss, lichen, plant down, feathers, and spider silk."
Must not have taken time to watch more than a few seconds of the video. Jerry states that its an opportunity to use it as a house regardless of if it can or will.
That's a cool project. I may need to get me one of those Trace frames.
Definitely check out the new Shaper Trace. Hard to believe it's under a hundy for that technology though
At 11:27 you used the word "Immediately". I watched the whole video and loved it. I do however think that using the word "immediately" while referring to getting on with it within this video is a stretch.
Immediately in Marquetry equates to next. 😅
Awesome the way the flaps contour the piece.
With that extra mood lighting too
just came across your video. wish I saw this when I first started. I've made many of the mistakes you talk about
We are glad you got here either way! Thanks for watching
Where do you buy the woodburning pen? I can only find tips or kits.

Michele, how can I burn the condensation that we see as we breath or speak in cold air? Any help you could offer with this would be greatly appreciated! Also, I’d like to compliment you on your videos - they’re so informative and full of excellent, useful and practical tips! Thank you!
Thank you for your kind compliment, Elaine. In order for the breath condensation to be seen, you’ll need to have a background burned behind where the breath will be rendered so that the lighter breath will show up. I would render breath condensation in one of these two ways: Option 1. I would burn the background where the breath will go first. Then I would use sandpaper (around 220/320 grit) to remove the burn in varying degrees of light and dark, working in small circles. You’ll need to make some of the “mist” lighter and darker to make it believable. Attached is a reference picture to show you an example. Note that the breath is very light when it comes out of her mouth. If it’s too strong, it will look like she is exhaling cigarette smoke. Option 2. I would burn the background only around the area where the mist will go. Then I would use my shader in a small circular motion to blend the background into the mist. You’ll need to shade in light and darker tones in the mist to mimic the breath in the photo. Please let me know if you need more clarification. Thanks, Michele
Thank you so much for your reply. This makes perfect sense - I’ll try it! 😊
Thanks, very interesting. Do the mac mops have to be broken in like the normal sanding mops, or not?
They do not. They can be used right out of the gate with no break-in needed. Thanks for watching!
Great, thank you for replying!
Quick question from a newbie. I have the same setup and wondering if the spindle can be operated manually from the speed controller without using a toolpath or the vetric program?
@christcrosscrafts any thoughts?
We have a few hundred linear feet of custom milled door and window casing that has quite a bit of chatter marks. It's 2.75" wide and hard Maple. I am thinking maybe a mop on a bench grinder. Any suggestions/advice on grits or a possibly better set up. I'm a DIY homeowner, not a shop, so trying to do a decent job without excessive costs, if possible. Thanks.
The Mac Mop, 10x4, would be the best option, especially if mounted to a bench grinder. You will have to have a long enough motor shaft to accommodate the 4" thickness of the Mac Mop. Mac Mops sand is finer than the grit they have on them. For example, 80 grit will sand more like 120 grit. If you need one grit to rule them all, 100 or 120 would be our recommendation.
Thank you so much ! <3

A grinding jig makes all this much faster and repeatable.
But if you don't have a template, how are you to make a jig?
I just bought it remade from Wolverine. @@KlingsporsWoodworkingShop
40 or 50 years ago this was called the Irish grind.. Because it was hard to do the English grind prevailed.. Go read Peter Child…. A turner and writer who published the English grind 50 years ago.. Production turners used the English grind.. Peter Child is English.. a simple jig could be made where the English grind is used by just twirling the tool on the grinder.. This is much like the Wolverine tool that hold the gouge at the base.. and is repeatable.. There are references in Fine woodworking from years ago about Peter Child too.
Thank you for all of this information. Thanks for watching as well

Your not airbrushing anything! Why use misleading titles. :(
Spraying Dyes using an AirBrushing Kit isn't airbrushing?
Also: A form of painting known as airbrushing is a process that involves the passing of ink, dyes, and paint through a nozzle by the process of converting the aforementioned paint and coatings into a mist or fine spray.
Thank You 🙏
